A hazy genesis of 2025 in paradisiacal, but overcast, Palm Beach. The pink hotels, patterned store windows and I are nearly cheerless. Yes - the sun shines eternal. But then there’s those deleterious clouds rendering all below dull and dreary. We are beginning the year in the penumbra - the gray area.

Ode to romantic sheets - cotton bows and bouquets - for everyone. Boys, too. 🎀 Hospital corners and big square euro pillows. Plus my (to me unhackneyed) fascination - quilts.

While reviewing - and delighting in! - past posts, my only wish is that I had continued through the last decade. I yearn to read my musings during such a high growth phase. And thus is born is the impulsion to take it up anon.

SUMMERIZE!

 

How is it that this word is not in my vocabulary until now?  SUMMERIZE. Today while summArizing (I also 🧡 the brief and succinct,) the Summer plans with hubby, I summErized our dog walk by wearing a bikini top. I summerized the Aspen house by purchasing July 4th paraphernalia and outdoor chairs, summerized multiple bedrooms with lighter quilts (this happens late in Colorado as our temps drop low through Spring), summerized the sitter schedule by adding a playmate on non-camp days, summerized dinner with streamlined outdoor service (enter utensil caddy, trays and South American placemats), summerized my makeup routine by removing it … I am a summarizing machine !!! Both my husband and best-friend happen to separately make me aware of this word on this day.

Decent descent

What I wore DEN to CLE and back. (Plus always the shawl).

When traveling - private or public - we cover up ! No matter how svelte our figure and/or supple our skin, the world’s people and the earth’s surfaces need not be privy. Shoulders, midriff, legs, and feet are happier when clothed for the here-to-there. Yes, even in Summer - under wraps ! Cotton comes in all weights. So does cashmere. Jeans run the weather gamut.

Option to wear the camisole as an under layer and reveal upon arrival or pack the light and fluttery cabriolet top in the tote. In summation, know thy jet etiquette ;)

Note : hair = neat.

Sorry, I’m still in my pajamas

Not Sorry PJ’s - Asteroid cotton front button-up with frills, hearts, and beads.

 “Sorry, I’m still in my pajamas”, is no way to go about your day!!

And yet, it was the way I presented myself this week. My inner script was therefore jumbled, the content of my hours scrambled, and my human encounters a missed opportunity. 

It is paramount to prepare in order to prevent poor performance. 

At the VERY LEAST this means : face, hair, outfit (teeth, skin, nails). Outfit includes defendable footwear and an inventoried purse. 

Often the above ‘very least’ is enough for a joyous sunrise to sunset. Diet and exercise need not be included, as with time, both will naturally follow. Let the presentation lead the way.

A successful family vacation is cause for celebration. ‘Celebration’ provides integration (and may feel more like a pause or day of rest).
