Call the authorities!
The Daily Doodle: Give me coffee and give me prana. It's yoga at the office! Use a desk, counter, conference table, or chair-back for these moves. Hold each for 3-5 long breaths, or 30 seconds.
Updog
Press into your hands, draw your heart towards the ceiling, keep the back and front of your neck long.
Downdog
Keep your arms straight, let your heart fall towards the floor, keep your neck in line with the rest of your spine.
Spinal Twist
Use the hand behind you to keep your spine lifted and as you twist keep your neck comfortable. Repeat on both sides.
Pyramid
Face your toes forward, straighten your legs, and stabilize your hips. Lengthen your spine towards the desk and drop your heart towards the floor. Keep your neck in line with your spine. Repeat on both sides.
Side Stretch
Press into the desk to lift up and over, keeping both side bodies as long as possible. Repeat on both sides.
Heart Opener
Actively press into the desk as you lift your chest. Keep your legs active and your tail pointing towards the floor.

see dress go
The daily Doodle: As I do every year at this time, I am wishing for long hair once again. Off to Colorado this week for a wedding where I plan on doodling daily outfits, because getting dolled-up in Aspen is the most fun a girl can have.

dress rehearsal
Your work on your yoga mat is a rehearsal for life. Breathing through and remaining calm in difficult asanas is the practice for breathing through and remaining calm at what life throws at you out of the studio. We had an Arizona/San Diego-wide blackout that lasted through the evening yesterday, leaving about 5 million people in the dark. No big deal. At least for the yogis. While radio personalities drilled the Electrical Company CEO on who to blame and the possibility of terrorist involvement (I kid you not,) The Mr. and I went for a sunset stroll on the beach, hunkered down at home for a cereal dinner, read aloud by candlelight, and got a great night's sleep. What did you do in the last power outage? I bet you not only remember, but unless you were stuck in an elevator you probably enjoyed yourself immensely. Even if you were stuck in an elevator, you may have like the time to think alone in the dark. Getting back to basics feels good, because it feels natural.
"It would show a lack of consideration and arrogance to become stuck in our principals."
"A little change (in environment) is very important (for yoga). The mind grows used to things that our action quickly falls into habits. We can never experience our real nature if we do not expose ourselves to change. That is why we must test ourselves sometimes by doing something completely different." T.K.V Desikachar
twinkly toes and the goal of yoga
The Daily Doodle: "Valentino" ballerina flats in pink/purple/yellow shades for the Summer to Fall transition.
"The goal of yoga is to be a little better than we were before." T.K.V. Desikachar

strawberries like to sleep in
The Daily Doodle: wiwtb - what I wore to bake today.
The Mr. and I splurged on a few too many strawberries at the farmer's market, and thus before they had the chance to spoil I whipped up an easy strawberry pie CLICK using a pre-made shell and less sugar. Any sugar substitute will also taste dandy.

there's a lioness in the lounge
The Daily Doodle: What I wore to work today. A long sleeved Chaser T from pre-work yoga with lacy shorts from a discount store, iIsabel jewels and RareVintage glasses. Perhaps not an inspired outfit, but impressive considering I only had to tuck little shorts into my purse before yoga, and a packet of leggings-and-a-cami after. No extra luggage required.
